BOYS SOCCER: Mercardo’s PK lifts Sundevils past Mustangs

Eddie Mercardo converted his second penalty kick of the match with just eight minutes remaining Thursday to break a 2-2 tie and lift Eldorado’s boys soccer team to a 3-2 win over visiting Shadow Ridge.

Israel Hernandez also scored for the Sundevils.

Dominic Damato and Matthew Camacho scored for the Mustangs.

Legacy 3, Arbor View 1 — At Arbor View, Jose Ramirez had a goal and an assist, and the Longhorns scored twice in the second half while playing a man down to top the Aggies.

Daniel Mejia and Justin McCabe scored for Legacy, which received a red card in the first half.

James Drye scored for Arbor View.

Cimarron-Memorial 3, Canyon Springs 1 — At Cimarron, Ernan Hernandez and Gustavo Ortega each scored in the first 10 minutes of the match to lead the Spartans by the Pioneers.

Eduardo Renteria added a goal for Cimarron.

Gaspar Gonzalez scored for Canyon Springs.

Green Valley 3, Liberty 1 — At Green Valley, Antonio Trama scored on a penalty kick and had an assist as the Gators defeated the Patriots.

Austin Quirt and Alessandro Sanchez also scored for the Gators.

Alex Camacho scored for Liberty.

Bonanza 2, Palo Verde 2 — At Palo Verde, Manuel Ponce scored two first-half goals to help the Bengals tie the Panthers.

Nolan Sherwood and Jordan Mashal each scored in the second half for Palo Verde.

Las Vegas 1, Coronado 0 — At Coronado, Mark Sotelo scored late in the first half as the Wildcats edged the Cougars.

Goalkeeper Enrique Adame got the shutout for the Wildcats.

Durango 4, Desert Oasis 2 — At Durango, the Trailblazers scored twice in the second half to top the Diamondbacks.

Flavius Simionescu scored early in the half to break a 2-2 tie for Durango. Jorge Lorza, Sammy Temesgen and Jovany Vasquez each added a goal for the Trailblazers.

Marcellous Curtis scored both goals for Desert Oasis.

Tech 4, Del Sol 0 — At Del Sol, Francisco Garcia had two goals and an assist to lead the Roadrunners to a win over the Dragons.

Joel Velazques and Chris Montiel each added a goal for Tech.

Tyler Harvey earned the shutout for Tech.

Silverado 6, Basic 2 — At Silverado, Chris Stang had three goals and an assist as the Skyhawks beat the Wolves.

Manny Jahuey scored twice, and Antonio Sanchez added a goal and an assist for Silverado.

Foothill 6, Centennial 0 — At Foothill, Jackson Dietrich had two goals and two assists, and Robby Cowan added two goals and an assist as the Falcons beat the Bulldogs.

Mason Reid had a goal and two assists, and Matt Pablico also scored for Foothill.

Derek Lawson made five saves to get the shutout.

Chaparral 6, Boulder City 0 — At Chaparral, Jose Morales scored four goals as the Cowboys routed the Eagles.

Gavynn Mossiah added two goals and an assist, and Omar Miranda had two assists for Chaparral.

Gerardo Skewes-Olvera was in goal for the shutout.

Valley 8, Rancho 1 — At Valley, Eric Sanchez had four goals and an assist to help the Vikings rout the Rams.

Alejandro Parra added two goals and an assist, and Marco Gonzales had a goal and two assists for Valley. Abel Tesfa also scored for the Vikings.

Jaime Carbajal scored for Rancho.

Postponed matches — Virgin Valley’s match at Sunrise Mountain and Moapa Valley’s match at Desert Pines both were postponed because of ongoing repair on Interstate 15, northeast of Las Vegas. The matches have not yet been rescheduled.
