Blake Balelo's goal with two minutes remaining in the match Saturday capped a furious comeback as Bishop Gorman's boys soccer team rallied for a 3-2 win over Denver East (Colo.) in a third-place match in the Gateway City Soccer Classic in St. Louis.
Denver East converted a penalty kick and free kick to take a 2-0 halftime lead.
Mike Tonetti's free-kick goal got the Gaels on the board, and Lance Peters tied the game with an unassisted goal.
With just more than two minutes left, the Gaels worked deep into Denver East territory, firing a shot that deflected off the goalkeeper. Trace Doehrmann picked up the deflection and found Balelo for the winning tally.
