Girls golf tees it up in opening week

Canyon Springs carded a 223 to win the Northeast League match Thursday at Las Vegas Country Club.

Almira Wilson took medalist honors with a 46 for the Pioneers, who also got a fourth-place 49 from Taylor Candley.

Las Vegas was second with a 234, led by Ashley Manhnieo’s 48.

Eldorado’s Angie Pitaksarp was second, individually, with a 47.

Southeast League — At Wildhorse, Brittany Rizzette carded a 3 over par 37 to lead Silverado to a first-place finish in the Southeast League meet.

Tameka Demps added a 40 for Silverado, which had a team total of 167, nine strokes better than Coronado. Green Valley (177) was third, followed by Foothill (241) and Del Sol (284).

Coronado's Melanie Chambers was the medalist with a 34.

3A Southern League — At Mountain Falls, Boulder City claimed the first Class 3A Southern League meet of the year, posting a 367 on Thursday.

Pahrump Valley, getting in a little extra work on its home course despite having moved up to Class 4A  this year, was second at 382, followed by Virgin Valley (440) and Faith Lutheran (453).

The Trojans’ Ashley Keller easily took medalist honors with a 3 over par 75. Boulder City’s Ashley Vince carded an 82.

Northwest League — In Wednesday’s Northwest League match at Aliante Golf Club, Palo Verde won easily with a 188.

Arbor View was second with a 203, followed by Centennial (210), Cimarron-Memorial (232), Mojave (258) and Shadow Ridge (264).

Individually, Palo Verde’s Sonja Pejak earned medalist honors by carding a 39. She was followed by teammate Kaylee Snyder (42), Arbor View’s Alyssa Ballew (43), Centennial’s Sara Farr (46), Centennial’s Alanna McLaughlin (49) and Palo Verde’s Leah Bayne (49).

Green Valley 180, Coronado 188 — At Legacy, Brittany Radke and Kristen Hsu each carded a 43 on Tuesday to help Green Valley win a season-opening dual match.
