2016 All-State Girls Golf Team

Here is the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s 2016 all-state girls golf team.

FIRST TEAM

Gabby DeNunzio, Coronado

The junior shot even-par 72 to tie for third at the Class 4A Sunrise Region tournament and was eighth at the Class 4A state tournament to help the Cougars win their third straight team title.

Victoria Estrada, Coronado

The sophomore shot 2-over 146 to earn medalist honors at the Class 4A state tournament and carded a 4-under 68 to win the Sunrise Region title. She had a team-best 70.0 scoring average.

Abbi Fleiner, Reno

The sophomore shot 12-over 156 to take medalist honors at the Class 4A Northern Region tournament and help the Huskies win the team title. She tied for seventh at the state tournament.

Annick Haczkiewicz, Palo Verde

The junior was medalist at the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament after shooting 9-under 63, a state postseason record in relation to par. She tied for second at the 4A state tournament.

Hunter Pate, Bishop Gorman

The junior shot 10-over 154 to finish in fourth place at the Class 4A state tournament. She tied for second at 2-under 70 as the Gaels captured their fourth straight Sunset Region team title.

Sami Penor, Coronado

The junior shot 2-under 70 to finish second at the Class 4A Sunrise Region tournament and help the Cougars set a state record for lowest score in relation to par. She finished fifth at state.

Lani Potter, Boulder City

The junior shot 3-over 147 to win the Class 3A state tournament. She carded a 3-over 75 to take medalist honors at the Southern Region tournament and lead the Eagles to the team title.

Sydney Smith, Faith Lutheran

The junior shot 16-over 160 to tie for seventh place at the Class 4A state tournament. She shot a 2-under 70, her low round of the season, and tied for second at the Sunset Region tournament.

SECOND TEAM

Rose Baral, Bishop Gorman

The sophomore shot 3-over 75 to finish fourth at the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament and helped the Gaels to their fourth straight team title. She finished tied for 11th place at state.

Emma Gilmore, Spanish Springs

The senior shot 10-over 157 to finish second at the Class 4A Northern Region tournament. The Dominican University (California) signee tied for ninth at the state tournament.

Cameron Griffin, Faith Lutheran

The sophomore carded a 7-over 79 to finish eighth at the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament and was 13th at state. She shot in the 70s in three of her four Northwest League matches.

Jada McAlister, Spanish Springs

The senior shot 15-over 159 to finish in sixth place at the Class 4A state tournament and was fifth at the Northern Region tournament. She signed a letter of intent with Alabama State.

Ashley Lung, Coronado

The senior posted an even-par 72 to tie for third at the Class 4A Sunrise Region tournament and finished second at state after a 2-under 70 in the final round, the low score of the tournament.

Danielle Oberlander, Bishop Gorman

The senior shot 4-over 76 to finish tied for fifth place at the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament and had a two-round total of 24-over 168 to tie for 14th place at the state tournament.

Rebecca Oertel, Palo Verde

The junior shot a season-best 6-over 78 and was seventh at the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament. She finished at 24-over 168 to tie for 14th place at the state tournament.

Hailey Stevenson, Centennial

The freshman shot 4-over 76 to finish tied for fifth place at the Class 4A Sunset Region tournament. She tied for 11th at the state tournament with a two-round total of 20-over 164.

Coach of the Year — Andy Schaper, Boulder City

The third-year coach guided the Eagles to their first Class 3A Southern Region title since 2010 and a second-place finish at the state tournament. Boulder City improved its score by more than 70 strokes from last season’s fifth-place finish at the state tournament.
