Roundup: Brett Sodetz wins Southern Nevada Invitational, helps Coronado to team title

Coronado’s Brett Sodetz carded a 3-under-par 69 at Reflection Bay on Tuesday to win the 36-hole Southern Nevada Invitational.

Sodetz, who shot a 1-over 72 at SouthShore Country Club in the opening round, birdied four of his final 13 holes to finish with a two-round total of 2-under 141.

Will Meinhardt of Bellarmine (California) was second at 144 after shooting a 71 on Tuesday. Tyler Schafer of Long Beach Wilson (California) tied Sodetz for the low round Tuesday with a 69 and finished third at 145.

Palo Verde’s Michael Salerno (148) was fourth, and Coronado teammates Dylan Fritz and Benjamin Sawaia tied for fifth at 149.

Coronado also won the team title, shooting 2-under as a team in the final round and finishing at 587.

Bellarmine was second at 597. Bishop Gorman and Long Beach Wilson tied for third at 631, and Faith Lutheran was fifth at 634.

Eldorado’s Manganello wins Northeast match

At Las Vegas National, Matt Manganello shot 1-over 72 to earn medalist honors in a Northeast League match.

Manganello was even-par through 16 holes before a double-bogey on the 17th. He finished with a birdie to win by nine strokes over Las Vegas’ Nic Jensen. Rancho’s Dillon Cassell was third with an 89.

Rancho won the team competition with a score of 370. Las Vegas was the only other school to post a team score and finished at 403.

Western’s Smith earns medalist honors in Sunset match

At Aliante, Western’ Jared Smith shot 4-over 76 to earn medalist honors in a Sunset League match.

Smith eagled the par-5 eighth hole en route to a 1-under 35 on his front nine.

Mojave’s Marcus Mullins shot 87 to finish second. Pahrump Valley teammates Craig Moore and Michael McDougall each shot 89 to tie for third.

Pahrump shot 367 to win the team competition. Mojave was second at 428, and Western took third at 441.

Western’s Patrick Tasanaroungrong had a hole-in-one on the fourth hole, and finished 10th individually.
