Class 4A: Coronado captures team title

Coronado’s boys golf shot a two-day total of 23-over-par 599 as a team to win the Class 4A state golf tournament at Reflection Bay Golf Club on Tuesday. It was the Cougars’ first title since 2012, and Coronado players celebrated by jumping into Lake Las Vegas.

Class 3A: Western’s Jared Smith, Eagles break dry spells by claiming titles

Jared Smith carded his second straight 1-under-par 71 to easily win the Class 3A boys state golf tournament. He’s the first Western player to win the individual title since Joel Kijowski in 1996. Boulder City captured the team title for the first time since 2006, winning by one stroke over Spring Creek.

Coronado shoots state-record round in Sunrise Region victory

Led by medalist Brett Sodetz, Coronado shot a total of 7-under-par 569 as a team, setting a state record for a 36-hole tournament. It was more than enough to give the Cougars their fourth straight title at the Sunrise Region tournament at Paiute on Wednesday.

Strong second day gives Mitchell Abbott individual title, Gorman team honors

The Bishop Gorman senior started the second day of the Sunset Region boys golf tournament seven strokes back of the leader. But a strong back nine, including three straight birdies, powered Abbott to a 4-under-par 140 and a one-stroke victory at Paiute on Wednesday.
