Ward, Pioneers top Rancho

Canyon Springs' Tyler Ward passed for 252 yards and two touchdowns on Friday, leading the 10th-ranked Pioneers (4-1, 3-0 Northeast) to a 34-7 victory over host Rancho (1-5, 1-1).

Canyon Springs compiled 483 total yards, with Marquice Turner rushing for 98 on seven carries, including touchdowns of 54, 14 and 15.

Ward completed 11 of 24 passes, including scoring strikes of 25 yards to Johnathon James and 22 to Daveon Collins.

Rancho’s Harvey Yarbrough returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown with 1:39 remaining.
