TyRay Collins, Chaparral roll past Rancho

TyRay Collins scored three touchdowns Saturday to help Chaparral’s football team to a 63-0 home victory over Rancho.

Collins rushed for 68 yards on three carries, including TD runs of 39 and 10 yards in the first quarter. He also returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown with 2:42 to go in the opening quarter to put Chaparral (4-1) up 21-0.

The Cowboys defense scored three touchdowns, as well. Tre Roberts led the defensive scoring by returning a pair of interceptions for touchdowns. He had a 35-yard interception return for a score with 1:43 to go in the first quarter, and added a 39-yard scoring return with 10:42 to go in the second to make it 35-0.

Chaparral also recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Sheik Fofanah’s first run of the night went for 41 yards, which was the Cowboys’ longest of the game. Fofanah finished with 83 rushing yards and one touchdown on eight carries.

Trayvius Hodge had three carries for 51 yards and scored on a 20-yard run in the second quarter.

Jonathan Gunter led the Rams (0-4) with 23 yards on five carries.
