Mortensen, Pirates rout Crusaders

Moapa Valley's Conner Mortensen scored five touchdowns, including a 65-yard punt return, and rushed for 175 yards to lead the Pirates (3-1) to a 54-18 road victory over Faith Lutheran (1-2) on Friday.

Moapa Valley got 121 yards rushing and three touchdowns by Sean McConnell, who scored on a 40-yard run, a fumble return and a 60-yard punt return.

Faith Lutheran quarterback Shawn Balva passed for 369 yards on 14 completions, with Anthony Pryatel-Farmer catching six for 166 yards, including a 12-yard touchdown. Balva also ran 6 yards for score.
Moapa Valley forced three turnovers in the third quarter alone and sacked Balva 11 times overall.

Sean Bishel made two interceptions for Faith Lutheran, and Vinny DeGeorge had two catches for 82 yards and a TD.
