McDearmon rushes for three scores as Mustangs top Desert Shields

Shadow Ridge quarterback Nick McDearmon rushed for three touchdowns to lead the Mustangs (3-4, 1-4 Northwest) to a 38-20 home win over Cheyenne (2-4, 1-4) on Friday.
McDearmon scored on runs of 9 yards and 1 yard in the first half and added a 43-yard TD run in the closing seconds of the third quarter. He finished with 137 yards on 16 carries.
Shadow Ridge’s Marcus Williams had a 3-yard TD, and Braden Williams’ 30-yard field goal put the Mustangs ahead 25-0 at halftime.
Cheyenne marched 76 yards in 16 plays, only to fall short when a pass was knocked down at the 4-yard line on fourth down.
After the Desert Shields forced a safety, Cheyenne’s next possession ended on a 2-yard TD by Tyler Spight.
Spight also had a 1-yard TD and caught a 19-yard TD pass from Kenneth Counts as Cheyenne pulled within 11 with four minutes left.
The Mustangs’ Williams sealed the win with an 8-yard TD two minutes later.
Spight finished with 168 yards on 30 carries.
