Louis Banuelos powers Laughlin to win

Louis Banuelos ran the ball 28 times for 133 yards and one touchdown as Laughlin’s football team earned a 12-6 road win over Calvary Chapel on Friday.

Banuelos scored on a 20-yard run with 5:30 to go in the third quarter for the game’s first points.

Andrew Braaksma threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Richard Coulston with 4:53 left in the fourth quarter to increase the Cougars’ lead to 12-0. Braaksma also ran for 53 yards on 13 carries.

Calvary Chapel (0-7, 0-6 2A Southern League) answered with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Drake Miller to Kade Sellers with 4:15 to play.

Banuelos and Braaksma were able to run out the clock for the Cougars with two rushing first downs.

Laughlin’s defense created five turnovers — two interceptions and three fumble recoveries — to help lead them to victory.
