Liberty remains unranked in Super 25, Bishop Gorman moves up

Liberty spent most of last year on USA Today’s list of Super 25 football teams in the nation. It will have to wait at least another week to make it back this season.

The Patriots landed outside the top 25 following Saturday’s commanding 51-20 home victory over Saguaro (Arizona). Liberty’s Week 2 opponent, American Heritage (Florida), is ranked No. 25.

The Patriots did shoot up some lists, coming in at No. 21 on MaxPreps’ Freeman Rankings.

Across town, Bishop Gorman jumped from No. 4 to No. 3 in the Super 25 after knocking off then-No. 6 DeMatha Catholic (Maryland). The Gaels will play top-ranked Mater Dei (California) on Friday in Santa Ana, California.

Bishop Gorman will play home games against No. 15 Miami Central (Florida) on Sept. 8, and No. 7 De La Salle (California) on Sept. 16.
