Dalton Leilua threw three touchdown passes, and Desert Pines rushed for 262 yards on the way to a 27-8 win over visiting Valley on Thursday.
Leilua completed 9 of 11 passes for 131 yards. He had a 46-yard touchdown pass to Eric Tuiloma, a 30-yard TD strike to Paul Bennett and a 12-yard scoring pass to Noel Darden.
The Jaguars (4-3, 3-1 Northeast) had rushed for 17 yards in the game’s first 15 minutes before going to a power-I attack and driving 67 yards on nine plays, all of them runs, for their first touchdown.
Leon Hayes capped the drive with a 1-yard run on fourth-and-goal.
“That’s all it takes, a little momentum and a little confidence,” Desert Pines coach Paul Bennett said.
Leilua hit a streaking Tuiloma with a 46-yard TD strike with 3:30 to go in the half.
The Jaguars kept Valley (1-5, 1-2) out of the end zone until Garic Wharton scored on a 1-yard keeper with 12.7 seconds to play.
Hayes rushed for 103 yards on 13 carries. Chancellor Davis added 90 yards on 16 tries.
