Leavitt, Panthers roll into Division IV title game

Wade Leavitt scored four touchdowns in the first 19 minutes of the game Friday to lead Pahranagat Valley’s football team to a 60-8 win over visiting Carlin in a Division IV state semifinal.

The Panthers (11-0) scored on each of their first seven possessions, building a 54-0 lead with five minutes left in the second quarter.

Leavitt started the barrage with a 45-yard TD run just more than two minutes into the game. He added a 71-yard fumble return, a 55-yard interception return and an 86-yard touchdown run.

Tabor Maxwell tossed two touchdown passes to Shawn Wadsworth, and Jordan Cryts had a 78-yard punt return, all in the first half for the Panthers, who will meet either Virginia City or Spring Mountain in the state final at either 6 p.m. on Nov. 21 or 1 p.m. on Nov. 22 at The Meadows.

Richard Lewis completed the Panthers’ scoring with a 1-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter.

Javas Leach’s 12-yard run got the Railroaders (6-5) on the board with three minutes left in the game.
