Perkins had a 75-yard TD run on Virgin Valley’s opening possession, a 5-yard rushing score later in the first quarter and a touchdown catch in the third quarter. The senior also finished with six tackles and a sack on defense.
“He’s a special kid,” Virgin Valley coach Yori Ludvigson said. “He does it on offense, defense, special teams. He’s as good as anybody I’ve ever coached.”
Cade Anderson completed 6 of 14 passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns, and Vicente Pinto caught a 34-yard touchdown for Virgin Valley (5-2, 1-0 Class 3A Sunrise League), which led 20-14 at the half.
Easton Jensen had two key interceptions for the Bulldogs.
“Good win for us,” Ludvigson said. “I’m proud of our kids. It was a good football game. … Obviously, it’s a rivalry game and you want to win those. But our goal is to win the league and go on a run for state. We still have to play Chaparral, but it’s a huge win for our kids and our community.”
Braeden St. John and Hayden Redd each had a rushing touchdown for Moapa Valley (5-2, 1-1).
