Jaguars shut out Miners

Desert Pines' Derrick Shaw rushed for three touchdowns as the Jaguars (4-3, 4-1 Northeast) routed host Sunrise Mountain (0-7, 0-5) 49-0 on Friday.

Wide receiver Roesean Waggoner added a 47-yard touchdown run for Desert Pines, which compiled 285 yards rushing and scored all of its TDs on the ground.

The Jaguars’ defense held Sunrise Mountain to 167 yards of total offense and didn’t allow a pass completion until the third quarter.

The Miners had a chance to avoid the shutout, but Christopher Moore’s pass to Cody Trapp fell incomplete in the end zone on the final play.
