Hicks leads Wildcats over Vikings

Elijah Hicks rushed for 131 yards and two touchdowns on just eight carries as Las Vegas High rolled to a 49-0 road victory over Valley on Friday.

With the win, Las Vegas (6-1 overall, 2-0 Northeast) stayed a half game back of Liberty (7-1, 3-0).

The Wildcats wasted no time in jumping all over Valley, as Zacharry Loveland capped the opening drive with a 1-yard plunge less than three minutes into the game. Moments later, after the Vikings turned the ball over at their own 1-yard line on fourth down, when the snap sailed over their punter's head, Hicks took it in and the Wildcats were off and running.

Valley (0-8, 0-3) struggled to move the ball effectively in the first half, as the Wildcats outgained outgained Valley in the 211 to minus-1 yard. Valley's biggest gains in the first half came from two 15-yard penalties on the Wildcats, who went into the locker room with a 42-0 edge.

Las Vegas finished with 303 yards on offense, while the Vikings had 55.

DiQuan Brown ran for 67 yards on eight carries with one TD for the Wildcats.

Las Vegas, which has now won six straight, hasn't allowed more than 22 points to its last five opponents. Since losing to Green Valley, the Wildcats have outscored their opponents by an average margin of 31.5 points.
