Centennial’s Chris Henderson led a balanced attack, throwing for 235 yards and two touchdowns and rushing for 84 yards and another score to propel the Bulldogs to a 28-19 home win over Shadow Ridge.
Centennial (2-2, 2-1 Northwest) scored on an 88-yard opening drive capped by Willie White’s 1-yard TD plunge.
Shadow Ridge (0-3, 0-2) answered quickly when Nick McDearmon found Cameron Raynor for a 13-yard touchdown. Henderson scored on a 7-yard run midway through the second quarter and tossed a short screen pass to Steven Wicker, who outran the defense for an 85-yard touchdown as time expired in the first half.
The Mustangs battled back to cut the lead to 21-19 in the third quarter behind touchdown runs of 65 yards and 1 yard by Zak Hill, who finished with 189 yards rushing. Shadow Ridge had the ball with a chance to take the lead in the fourth quarter when Joshua Symonette made a tackle for loss on fourth-and-1.
Six plays later, Henderson connected with Robert Holley for a 21-yard TD pass to put the game out of reach.
Wicker finished with four catches for 109 yards, and Javahn Sanders rushed for 105 yards on 16 carries.
