Four Lincoln County runners combine for 566 yards as Lynx top Cougars

Four Lincoln County ball carriers combined for 566 yards on 50 rushes to power the Lynx (4-4, 4-2 2A Southern) past the Cougars (5-3, 3-3).

Lincoln County’s Nic Hurst rushed for 216 yards and two TDs on 19 carries, Preston Avery for 188 and one TD on 17 carries and Derek Cheeney for 148 yards and two scores on 11 carries.

Jake Hodges scored on a 70-yard run in the second quarter for Laughlin, which was outscored 21-0 in the third.

Bishop Gorman was crowned the high school football national champion by MaxPreps on Monday, earning the school’s fourth mythical football national title.
