Foothill builds big lead, tops Coronado

Foothill (4-3, 2-1 Southeast) jumped to a 25-0 lead after one quarter and held off visiting Coronado (2-4, 0-4) 33-20 on Friday.

Parker Riggin passed for 267 yards and four touchdowns to lead Foothill. Riggin had three TD passes in the first quarter, connecting with Kyle Keplinger on a 27-yard TD pass, hitting Darius Gates with an 86-yard TD pass and hooking up with Mikie Charlton on a 20-yard TD.

Coronado scored 20 straight points to cut the lead to five, but Riggin added a 26-yard touchdown pass to Tyrel Garner, who had five catches for 106 yards, late in the fourth quarter to seal it.

Coronado’s Kentavius Hudson rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, and freshman Cory Mucino added five catches for 74 yards. Ryan Newton passed for 256 yards, including a 21-yard TD strike to Mucino.
