Fast start powers Durango to rout of Western

Durango scored seven first-half touchdowns Thursday night and cruised to a 65-7 home victory over Western.
The seventh-ranked Trailblazers (7-1, 6-0 Southwest League) scored on all seven of their first-half possessions, racking up 450 yards of offense by halftime and taking a 51-0 lead into the break.
Of the 22 offensive plays Durango ran in the first half, 15 went for 10 or more yards. Five of the seven touchdown drives took less than a minute, and the longest was 2 minutes, 14 seconds.
Donovan Smith touched the ball just four times but scored twice for Durango. He had a 36-yard touchdown run 35 seconds into the game and added a 64-yard TD run with 9:40 to go in the half. He finished with 116 yards on three carries.
Julio Mora scored three first-half touchdowns for Durango. He had TD runs of 5 and 13 yards and scored on a 66-yard screen pass from Chase Roberts.
Mora rushed for 110 yards on eight carries. Roberts completed 6 of 7 passes for 186 yards. In addition to the TD pass to Mora, he also completed a 29-yard touchdown pass to Julius McLaurine and a 25-yard TD pass to Michael Neighbors.
Reggie Williams returned the second-half kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown for Western (1-6, 0-6).
