Faith Lutheran rolls to victory in Hawaii

Faith Lutheran’s football team raced to a 33-0 halftime lead and rolled to a 49-18 win over Kaimuki (Hawaii) on Sunday at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Saundre Spiller rushed for two touchdowns, and Sagan Gronauer had two TD passes and a rushing touchdown to lead the Crusaders.

Gronauer completed 14 of 22 passes for 186 yards. Spiller had 17 carries for 98 yards, and Elijah Kothe caught seven passes for 126 yards for Faith Lutheran.

Gronauer capped the opening drive with an 8-yard TD run, and the the Bulldogs (2-2) never threatened. He added a 7-yard TD pass to Eric Ho, and a 19-yard scoring pass to Kothe.

Spiller had TD runs of 3 and 10 yards, and kicker Brandon Hahn kicked a pair of first-half field goals for the Crusaders (1-1).

Hahn had a 36-yard field goal in the first quarter, and added a 45-yarder with 5:20 to go in the first half.

Alec Netski returned an interception 21 yards for a touchdown for Faith Lutheran, which also recorded a safety when Kaimuki quarterback Jordan Solomon was called for intentional grounding in the end zone.

Faith Lutheran led 40-0 before Kaimuki finally got on the board with a 12-yard TD pass from Solomon to Jahssiah Maiava with 32 seconds to go in the third quarter.

Solomon added a 23-yard TD pass to Andries Toussaint with 10:37 to play, and he hit Maiava with a 3-yard scoring pass as time expired.

The game originally was scheduled for Saturday, but was moved because of the threat of Hurricane Lester.
