Early passing TDs help Panthers top Mountain Lions

Palo Verde’s Parker Rost hooked up with Jake Ortale for back-to-back scores to start the game Thursday, and the Panthers (6-1, 3-0 Northwest) never looked back in a 54-0 road win over Sierra Vista.

Rost connected with Ortale on TD passes of 24 and 14 yards in the opening period. Calvin Beaulieu scored on a 34-yard run and Darrion Finn ran in from 40 during the second quarter as the No. 8 Panthers raced to a 35-0 halftime lead.

Beaulieu, who rushed for 89 yards, opened the second half with a 98-yard kickoff return. Finn added an 8-yard scoring run, while Aaron Chisolm’s 7-yard touchdown closed the scoring.

Maliek Broady ran for 58 yards on 11 carries for Sierra Vista (2-5, 1-2).
