Crusaders take control early, top Mountain Lions

Faith Lutheran scored on drives of 3, 1 and 1 plays inside the first five minutes Friday night on the way to a 44-14 road win over Sierra Vista.

The Crusaders (6-1, 5-0 Sunset League) extended the lead to 27-0 when Elijah Kothe caught his second TD pass of the game from Brenden Joyce. Joyce completed 11 of 12 passes for 171 yards and three touchdowns.

Lopaka Kolone finally got the Mountain Lions (1-6, 0-5) on the board with a 10-yard run at the end of thr first quarter.

Christian Marshall rushed for 164 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries for Faith Lutheran, and teammate Alec Netski had four receptions for 74 yards.

Isaiah Zavala rushed for 104 yards, and Kolone ran for 103 yards for Sierra Vista. Oscar Aliaga hit Joshua Henderson on a 20-yard TD pass in the fourth quarter for the Mountain Lions. Henderson caught four passes for 64 yards for Sierra Vista.
