Courtwright’s seven TDs lift Needles to triple-overtime win

Daric Courtwright’s 10-yard run and John Ochoa’s extra point in the third overtime lifted Needles (4-3, 4-1 2A Southern) to a 63-62 home victory over Mountain View on Friday.

Courtwright ran for seven touchdowns for Needles, including one with 49 seconds left.

But Mountain View sent the game into overtime on an 81-yard kick return by Justyn Andersen.

T.J. Engel found Anderson for a 6-yard TD pass in the first overtime and a 10-yard TD pass in the third overtime, with Jacob Duldulao adding a 10-yard scoring run in the second overtime.

The Mustangs answered each time with a 10-yard scamper by Courtwright.

Engel completed 18 of 26 passes for 224, five touchdowns and two interceptions, and also ran for 67 yards and two scores on 13 carries. Duldulao led the ground game with 17 carries for 99 yards and a touchdown.

Anderson led Mountain View’s receivers with 109 yards on five receptions.
