Big second quarter lifts Wolves over Cougars

Basic (2-2, 1-1 Southeast) scored 22 points in the second quarter to take control in their 35-14 homecoming night win over visiting Coronado (2-2, 0-2) on Friday.

Antraye Johnson triggered the uprising with a 48-yard run. Darien Spencer followed with an 11-yard reception from Eddie Vega, and Lee Hardy scored on a 24-yard run.

Johnson ran for a 4-yard score in the fourth quarter and Devonte Boyd caught a 20-yard TD pass from Vega, who guided the Wolves to 456 total yards.

For Coronado, quarterback Nate Webb scored on a 75-yard keeper in the first quarter, and Kevin Lucero and he threw a 44-yard TD pass to Cody Mucino in the fourth.
