Outlook: Del Sol won just one game in Division I last season, a 28-20 victory over Eldorado in its final game.

The Dragons, now a Division I-A school, hope the winning becomes more frequent. Lawson will lead the way as he splits time between quarterback, running back and defensive back.

Seniors Olivas and Lytle are back on the offensive line for the Dragons, who return five starters on offense and six on defense.

“The boys have been working hard since May when we started preparing for camp and carried the effort through the summer into August,” Maki said. “Hopefully the hard work pays off as we move into the I-A Division with hopes of contending for a playoff spot. We believe we need to get off to a fresh start to gain momentum for this to happen, but believe we have worked hard enough in the off-season to deserve to win.”
