Aliyah Wyrick scored three touchdowns, including two on the ground, and Centennial’s defense held tight on a two-point conversion late to hold off Palo Verde, 20-18 in the Division I Sunset Region final at Rancho High.
Alexandrea Hondo scored on a 15-yard touchdown run with a minute remaining Thursday as Coronado’s flag football team erased an 18-point deficit to upset Las Vegas, 33-30, in a Sunrise Region semifinal.
Baylee Wieslander returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown Tuesday to break a 13-13 tie and give Valley’s flag football team a 19-13 home victory over Green Valley in the Sunrise Region quarterfinals.
Top-seeded Boulder City (18-0), which has won 40 consecutive games dating to 2014, will get an opportunity to showcase its talents to everyone else when it hosts No. 4 seed Desert Pines (9-10) at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Division I-A Sunrise League tournament to open the flag football playoffs. All other games will simultaneously take place at host sites around Southern Nevada.
Meleane Ngaue threw four touchdown passes — three to her sister Ilaisanna — to lead Desert Pines’ flag football team to a 26-12 win over Moapa Valley in a Sunrise League play-in game at Spring Valley on Saturday.
Liliana Cadacio completed 14 of 16 passes for 136 yards and four touchdowns Thursday as Cheyenne’s flag football team secured the Division I-A Sunset League title with a 38-15 win over visiting Sierra Vista.
