FLAG FOOTBALL: Deborah Grant leads Green Valley past Las Vegas in opener

Deborah Grant rushed for 177 yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries to lead Green Valley’s flag football team to a 25-18 win over visiting Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Alyson Thorne added 35 yards rushing and a touchdown, and Christina Mayberry had 19 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Gators. Mayberry also caught a touchdown from Bella Cipili for Green Valley, which led 12-6 at the half.

Sabrina Saldate was 14 of 22 passing for 135 yards and two touchdowns for Las Vegas. Natalie Gennuso, who finished with 61 yards receiving, caught both TD passes, and teammate Kiura Shipman rushed for 95 yards for the Wildcats.

Moapa Valley 13, Clark 6 — At Overton, Cambree Pulsipher ran in a 7-yard touchdown with 12 minutes remaining for the go-ahead score to rally the Pirates by the Chargers.

Alexis Peay threw a 20-yard TD pass to Felicia Perez for Moapa Valley, which trailed 6-0 at halftime.

Junhee Bae had a 7-yard TD run for Clark.

Sierra Vista 13, Coronado 6 — At Coronado, Courtney O’Neal scored on a 60-yard TD rush on the first play from scrimmage and added another rushing score in the first half to help the Mountain Lions down the Cougars.

Trinity Rhoades had 151 yards rushing on 21 carries, and teammate Caitlin Shannon rushed for 49 yards and Coronado’s lone score.

Tech 20, Desert Pines 6 — At Tech, Avery Rayos and Haley Makue-Vasconcellos each had an interception for the Roadrunners as they topped the Jaguars.

Rayos and Makue-Vasconcellos each caught a touchdown from quarterback Katy Orellana, who threw for 135 yards. Rayos had 85 yards receiving, and Makue-Vasconcellos added 35 yards receiving and 50 yards rushing.

Orellana had 65 rushing yards, and Aylin Silva added 20 rushing yards for Tech, which led 6-0 at halftime.

Cimarron-Memorial 42, Sunrise Mountain 0 — At Cimarron, Tiarra Del Rosario and Logan DeLong each accounted for three touchdowns in the Spartans’ victory over the Miners.

Del Rosario went 12-for-13 for 164 yards passing and two TDs and also ran for a score. DeLong caught nine passes for 170 yards two touchdowns and also tossed a 17-yard touchdown to Alyssa Karpinski, who finished with seven receptions for 131 yards and two touchdowns.

Haylei Hughes completed all six of her passes for 131 yards and a touchdown for Cimarron.

Elizabeth Asoau had seven tackles and an interception, and Diona Whitley added five tackles to lead the Spartans defense.

Arbor View 31, Mojave 0 — At Arbor View, Melanie Ara rushed for 136 and two touchdowns as the Aggies shut out the Rattlers.

Leslie Romero added 45 yards rushing and two touchdowns for Arbor View, which led 13-0 at halftime.

Rancho 33, Western 14 — At Rancho, Katerina Anthony completed 10 of 14 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns and added 98 yards rushing on seven carries to lift the Rams over the Warriors.

Christana Paraea had two receiving scores and an 80-yard TD run for Rancho, which led 27-7 at halftime.

Shadow Ridge 34, Del Sol 7 — At Shadow Ridge, Jordan Ford ran for 108 yard and three touchdowns, and quarterback Samantha Milanovich threw for 104 yards and ran for 120 yards as the Mustangs routed the Dragons.

Angel Jones threw an 8-yard touchdown to Xolani Frazier for Del Sol’s lone score.

Palo Verde 32, Valley 0 — At Valley, the Panthers scored 13 points in the first half and 19 points in the second to rout the Vikings.
