ROUNDUP: Durango’s boys edge Clark

Durango’s pack held together and helped the Trailblazers hold off host Clark on Tuesday.

Durango’s boys had a team score of 36, one point better than Clark. Bonanza (58) and Pahrump Valley (91) rounded out the field.

Durango’s Donovan Lewis finished second in the 2.5-mile race in 14 minutes, 46 seconds. The next four Trailblazers claimed seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place, separated by a total of 15 seconds. Nick Ruiz, who finished 10th in 15:42, nosed out 11th-place Jose Caballero of Clark by three seconds.

Clark’s Jake Naylor won the meet in 14:46.

Palo Verde takes top three spots
At The Meadows, Palo Verde’s boys took the top three individual spots en route to an easy win.

The Panthers had a team score of 22. Shadow Ridge took second with 40, followed by Virgin Valley (87), The Meadows (99) and Adelson School (107).

Daniel Wicks won in 14:45, followed by teammates Sebastian Karbowniczek (15:04) and Zach Smith (15:14).

Shadow Ridge’s Sammy Mahar was fourth in 15:21.

Aggies sweep top five spots
At Arbor View, the Aggies swept the top five positions to blitz Bishop Gorman and Cheyenne.

Arbor View scored the minimum 15 points. Gorman (50) was second, with Cheyenne (73) taking third.

Adonis Gaines led the Aggies’ parade across the finish line in 12:32.5, nipping teammate Andy Nelson in the 2.4-mile race by 0.2 seconds. Greg Marschik was third in 12:58.5.

Green Valley wins at Basic
At Basic, Green Valley posted three of the top four finishers to win with 33 points.

The Gators’ Julius Kim won the 2.5-mile race in 14:33, followed by Valley’s Solomon Belay (14:40), Green Valley’s Steve Harris (15:21) and Green Valley’s Jason Ferraro (15:21).
