ROUNDUP: Depth key as Tech boys overcome Cougars, Falcons

Tech’s boys cross country team used its depth Tuesday to edge Coronado and Foothill at Sonata Park.

The Roadrunners had three of the top six finishers on their way to 38 points, narrowly outdistancing Coronado (41) and Foothill (45).

Coronado’s Alan Ekanger won the 2.8-mile race in 15 minutes, 5.4 seconds.

Foothill’s Brian Marshall was second in 15:10.3, followed by Tech’s Martin Ponce at third in 15:13, Tech’s Ken Lawrence at fourth in 15:49.3 and Foothill’s Kyler Campbell at fifth in 15:53.2.

Gorman takes top three spots, wins tri-meet
At Bishop Gorman, Julian Jalalni won the 2.5-mile race in 12:55 to lead the Gaels (21) past Desert Oasis (45) and Sierra Vista (106).

Gorman’s Eric Klein (13:14) was second, and teammate Josh Holland (13:17) finished third.

Shadow Ridge cruises to win
At The Meadows, Shadow Ridge had nine of the top 10 finishers on its way to 20 points and a victory over Legacy (58), Cheyenne (67) and The Meadows (94).

Cheyenne’s Taikye Wright-Brown won the 2.7-mile race in 15:33.

Shadow Ridge’s Andy Blaine took second in 15:36, followed by teammates Francis Mezy (15:37), Steven Roundy (15:41) and Garrett Simpson (15:46).

Aggies edge Spartans
At Indian Springs, Arbor View had seven runners in the top 10 on its way to 27 points and a victory over Cimarron-Memorial (32), Mojave (97) and Indian Springs (98).

Cimarron’s Malik Jackson won the 3.1-mile race in 17:59, followed by Arbor View’s Shelby Decker (18:35), Cimarron’s Ricky Ng (18:42), Arbor View’s Justin Miller (18:45) and Cimarron’s Seth Wright (19:02).
