Western Girls Basketball 2013-14 Capsule Preview

2012-13 record: 10-18 (4-6 Sunset, fourth)

Returning letter winners (starters): 10 (five)

Top players: F Rela Coleman (Jr.) F Destiny Gonzalez (So.), G Capricia Pierce (So.), G Guadalupe Herrera (Sr.)

Outlook: Nelson, who moves over from the boys program, inherits a team that returns its entire starting lineup.

Gonzalez averaged 11.6 points, 12.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game, and Pierce chipped in 12.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg and 2.0 assists per game. Herrera added 7.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg and 1.8 apg.

“With the addition of transfer Rela Coleman from Del Sol, Western will look to secure a playoff spot again this season,” Nelson said.
