Roundup: Virginia Weir’s 3-pointer gives Pahrump Valley tournament title

Virginia Weir hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer on Saturday to lift Pahrump Valley’s girls basketball team to a 45-43 win over Moapa Valley in the championship game of the Bulldog Invitational in Mesquite.

The Trojans trailed 39-33 entering the fourth quarter, but limited the Pirates to four points in the final period.

Kylie Stritenberger led Pahrump with 15 points, and teammate Alyvia Briscoe scored 11.

Shelbi Walker and Lainey Cornwall each had 12 points to pace Moapa Valley. Kaitlyn Anderson added 10 points for the Pirates.

Pahrump Valley 32, Virgin Valley 31 — At Mesquite, the Trojans edged the Bulldogs in overtime in the semifinals of the Bulldog Invitational.

Stritenberger scored nine points to lead Pahrump.

Nathalie Lagamayo scored seven to lead Virgin Valley, which outscored Pahrump 10-2 in the fourth quarter to force overtime.

Moapa Valley 48, Panguitch (Utah) 39 — At Mesquite, Walker scored 18 points, and the Pirates hit 10 3-pointers as they topped the Bobcats in the semifinals of the Bulldog Invitational.

Cornwall added 12 points for Moapa Valley.

Karlee Eyre paced Panguitch with 12 points.

Panguitch (Utah) 52, Virgin Valley 14 — At Mesquite, the Bobcats sprinted to a 31-4 halftime lead and rolled to the win for third place in the Bulldog Invitational.

Kapri Orton scordd 17 points to lead Panguitch.

Wells 55, Mojave 42 — At Mesquite, the Leopards outscored the Rattlers 20-10 in the fourth quarter to secure the win in the Bulldog Invitational.

Sammy Stumpf led Wells with 15 points.

Mojave’s Kiara Lemon led all scorers with 17 points, and Destini Bolden and Alecia Kelly each scored eight for the Rattlers.

Mojave 38, Dixie (Utah) 33 — At Mesquite, the Rattlers defeated the Flyers in the Bulldog Invitational.

Lincoln County 55, The Meadows 10 — At The Meadows, the Lynx opened the game on a 24-0 run and rolled past the Mustangs.

Lincoln County held The Meadows scoreless in the first and third quarters.
