Roundup: Pahranagat Valley coach Amy Huntsman earns 500th win

Pahranagat Valley girls basketball coach Amy Huntsman collected her 500th career win Saturday as the Panthers downed host White Pine 43-37 in Ely.

Huntsman, who took over the Pahranagat Valley program prior to the 1994-95 season, is 500-160 as the Panthers’ coach. She joins current Centennial coach Karen Weitz (638 wins) and former Carlin and Elko coach Lynnette Davis (563) as the only girls basketball coaches in Nevada history to reach 500 wins.

The Panthers are the top seed for the Class 1A Southern League playoffs, which begin Wednesday. Huntsman has led Pahranagat Valley to 13 state championships in her 24 seasons.

Lincoln County 57, Laughlin 18 — At Panaca, Kailey Kelley had 15 points as the Lynx rolled past the Cougars.

Brynlee Wadsworth added 12 points for Lincoln County, which led 22-0 after one quarter.

Lori Morgon led Laughlin with eight points.

The Meadows 30, Mountain View 21 — At Tje Meadows, Arianna Jones and Kambree Takekuma each had 10 points as the Mustangs topped the Saints.

Talia Steinwald added nine points for The Meadows, which outscored Mountain View 16-2 in the middle quarters.

Jordan Spriggs led the Saints with 11 points.
