ROUNDUP: Moreland posts double-double as Western girls top Durango, claim No. 3 seed

Brittany Moreland had 17 points and 20 rebounds Friday as Western’s girls basketball team wrapped up the Southwest League’s No. 3 seed for the Sunset Region playoffs by downing visiting Durango, 51-46.

Aleya Ford-Wheaton added 14 points, and Mylasia Smith had eight points and 16 rebounds for the Warriors, who got nine points from Guadalupe Herrera.

Jasmine Thomas scored 16 points, and Brea Belser had 10 points to lead Durango, which enters the postseason as the Southwest’s No. 4 seed. 

Centennial 65, Palo Verde 23 — At Centennial, Shannon Brown and Teirra Hicks each scored 10 points to lead a balanced scoring attack as the Bulldogs finished 16-0 in the Northwest League by routing the Panthers.

Breanna Workman, Tamera Williams, and Jada Brown each had nine points for Centennial.

Lily Tapusoa paced Palo Verde with nine points. 

Foothill 81, Silverado 44 — At Foothill, Christina Nash led five double-figure scorers with 16 points as the Falcons completed a perfect trip through the Southeast League scheduled with a rout of the Skyhawks.

Bri Higgins added 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Kimmie Sandusky had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Foothill, which got 12 points from Danielle Morris and 10 points from Emily Cox.

Jessica Meyers scored 16 points to lead Silverado.

Liberty 60, Green Valley 36 — At Green Valley, Alyx Stiff scored 17 points to help the Patriots cruise past the Gators.

Dayanni Cochran added 11 points for Liberty, which claimed the Southeast League’s No. 2 playoff seed with the win.

Christina Najar scored 10 points to lead Green Valley, which will enter the postseason as a No. 4 seed.

Coronado 68, Del Sol 31— At Coronado, Sofie Cruz scored 21 points, and the Cougars grabbed a 26-10 first-quarter lead on their way to a win over the Dragons.

Kealy Brown added 10 points for Coronado.

Chloe Cabanas scored 10 points for Del Sol.  

Bishop Gorman 60, Bonanza 17 — At Bonanza, April Rivers scored 16 points as the Gaels finished a 16-0 Southwest League season with a rout of the Bengals.

Zhane Dikes scored 14 points, and Meghan Carter added 10 points for Gorman.

Tanganika Hunt led Bonanza with seven points.  

Legacy 43, Shadow Ridge 25 — At Shadow Ridge, Deja Brown scored 14 points to help the Longhorns roll past the Mustangs.

Sabriya Brooks scored 13 points to lead Shadow Ridge, which was held to six points in the first half.

Desert Oasis 74, Spring Valley 46 — At Desert Oasis, Auburn Smith, Sammi Tso and Tatiana Kearn each scored 16 points as the Diamondbacks downed the Grizzlies.

DeTiese Moore led Spring Valley with 17 points. Jana Espiritu added 11 points for the Grizzlies, and teammate Jessica Stevens scored 10.

Faith Lutheran 48, Cimarron-Memorial 33 — At Faith Lutheran, Sam Leonard scored 16 points to help the Crusaders down the Spartans.

Kelsey McCourt had 11 points, and Taylor Hammer added 10 points for Faith Lutheran.

Kiana Carter led Cimarron with 11 points. 

Sierra Vista 72, Clark 52 — At Clark, Jasmine Suarez scored 29 points, and the Mountain Lions used a 51-22 second-half burst to rout the Chargers.

Melia Tadytin chipped in 16 points, and Enas Ajaj added 11 points for Sierra Vista. 

Bobbi Floyd had 26 points to lead Clark, which got 10 points from Lisa Ko.

Arbor View 52, Mojave 23 — At Arbor View, Jena Valenzuela scored 27 points as the Aggies topped the Rattlers.

Ria Louch added 10 points for Arbor View, which led 26-8 at the half.

Celeste Manumaleuna paced Mojave with eight points.

Basic 63, Tech 13 — At Basic, Dana Deloney had 19 points, and Kailai Brantner scored 14 points as the Wolves routed the Roadrunners.

Cheyenne 52, Moapa Valley 47— At Overton, Lajuana Brown scored 14 of her 20 points in the first half to lead the Desert Shields over the Pirates

Brea Thompson scored 11 points, and Kayla Armstrong added 10 points for Cheyenne.

Hanna Leavitt led Moapa Valley with 11 points. 

Virgin Valley 55, Boulder City 48 — At Mesquite, Cassidy Crandall scored 14 points to help the Bulldogs secure a No. 1 playoff seed by rallying past the Eagles.

Abbie Barnard added 13 points for Virgin Valley, which trailed 28-22 at halftime.

Alyssa Ybarra led Boulder City with 15 points.

Lincoln County 58, Needles 40 — At Panaca, Jaycee Wadsworth had 15 points, and Lacee Babcock added 14 points to lead the Lynx by the Mustangs.

Kourtney Gloeckner added 10 points for Lincoln County.

Abby Chandler paced Needles with 12 points.

Calvary Chapel 62, Agassi Prep 27 — At Calvary Chapel, Phallen Nelson had 20 points and 11 steals as the Lions routed the Stars.

Deja Harris added 16 points and 16 rebounds, and teammate Lianne Reyes scored 10 for Calvary Chapel.

Lake Mead 32, The Meadows 31 — At The Meadows, Taylor Badua-Kono scored 21 points including a game-winning layup with eight seconds to play to give the Eagles the edge over the Mustangs.

Melaney Mayes scored 11 points, and teammate Bailey Gosse had 10 points for the Meadows. 

Pahranagat Valley 43, Adelson School 9 — At Alamo, Jamie Hansen had 12 points as the Panthers wrapped up an undefeated Class 1A Southern League campaign by downing the Lions.

Bailee Hosier and Kennedy Huntsman each added six points for Pahranagat Valley, which led 21-0 after one quarter.

Lund 42, Tonopah 29 — At Lund, Emily Erekson scored 16 points, and Melynda Boren added 15 points as the Mustangs defeated the Muckers.

Summer Ashby had seven points to pace Tonopah. 

Beatty 61, Round Mountain 37 — At Round Mountain, the Hornets pulled away from the Knights.

Morgan Manley had 16 points and 11 rebounds for Round Mountain.

Indian Springs 42, Sandy Valley 12 — At Sandy Valley, Alexxa Reinke scored 20 points to lead the Thunderbirds by the Sidewinders.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
