ROUNDUP: Manwarren, Green Valley girls sink Sundevils for tournament title

Tournament Most Valuable Player Maggie Manwarren tallied 16 points Saturday to help Green Valley’s girls basketball team defeat Mt. Carmel (Calif.), 49-38 in the championship game of the Wolverine Invitational in San Diego.

Rianna Rudolph added 15 points for the Gators, who held only a 21-20 halftime edge before starting the third quarter on a 9-0 run.

Ellee Barton had eight points, and Milena Palor grabbed eight rebounds for Green Valley.

Faith Lutheran 46, Sunrise Mountain 32 — At Faith Lutheran, Julia Benko tallied 12 points to lead the Crusaders by the Miners.

Brittany Veal had 14 points for Sunrise Mountain, which made 20 of 45 free-throw attempts. Faith Lutheran was 10 of 21 from the line.

Mater Dei Catholic (Calif.) 67, Bishop Gorman 46 — At San Diego, Kandiss Barber tallied 21 points, and the Crusaders outscored the Gaels 37-20 in the second half to pull away for the win.

Alexandria Young added 14 points, and Kristine Sellona scored 12 for Mater Dei Catholic.

April Rivers had 18 points, and Megan Jacobs scored 11 for Gorman.

Virgin Valley 47, Pine View (Utah) 33 — At Mesquite, Amanda Stenberg scored seven of her 11 points during a 19-2 second-quarter run that lifted the Bulldogs by the Panthers.

Abbie Barnard had 17 points for Virgin Valley.

Lincoln County 42, Mountain View 39 — At Panaca, Jaycee Wadsworth tallied 14 points, and the Lynx built an early 13-3 lead and nipped the Saints.

Elle Scott added 13 points for Lincoln County.

Kiley Murphy had 17 points to lead Mountain View.
