ROUNDUP: Las Vegas tops Rancho in girls basketball

Shelby Nelson had 14 points to lead Las Vegas High’s girls basketball team to a 45-36 win over visiting Rancho on Wednesday.

It was the first Northeast League win for the Wildcats.

Bri Johnson added 11 points for Las Vegas, which outscored Rancho 26-12 in the middle two quarters to take control.

Rancho’s Khalia Branch led all scorers with 22 points.

Chaparral 40, Canyon Springs 39 — At Chaparral, Roxanne Pipitone scored 11 points for the Cowboys, who roared back from a 25-15 halftime deficit to nip the Pioneers.

Chaparral pulled within 31-29 entering the fourth quarter and forced a turnover before Canyon Springs could attempt a possible winning shot.

Diamond Broadus led the Pioneers with 16 points.

Arbor View 46, Boulder City 32 — At Arbor View, Erika Lang had 11 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Aggies past the Eagles.

Jaleesa Williams added 11 points and Jena Valenzuela 10 points and 12 rebounds for Arbor View.

Caiti Forrester scored a game-high 21 points for Boulder City.

West Wendover 85, Jackpot 44 — At Jackpot, Danika Sharp had 41 points as the Wolverines downed the Jaguars.

Estella Botello added 17 points for West Wendover, which pulled away by outscoring Jackpot 51-26 in the middle quarters.
