ROUNDUP: Jackson’s 23 points lead Sundevil girls to first Northeast win

Deniseun Jackson scored 23 points Tuesday to help Eldorado’s girls basketball team secure its first Northeast League win of the season by edging visiting Chaparral, 43-42.

Johnice Green added nine points for the Sundevils (3-12, 1-7 Northeast), who used a 14-4 third-quarter run to take 29-21 lead before holding on for the win.

Octavia Gray paced the Cowboys with 16 points, and Mary Manjarrec added 11 points for Chaparral.

Rancho 75, Desert Pines 62 — At Rancho, LaKissa Martin poured in 26 points, and the Rams used a 27-18 spurt in the second quarter to pull away from the Jaguars.

Kanosha Gray had 17 points, and Erica Johnson contributed 14 points for Rancho.

Cydney Myles tallied 20 points to lead Desert Pines, which got 18 points from Kiana Alexander and 15 points from Leslie White.

The Jaguars were playing their first game since the death of teammate Betty Pinkney on Jan. 15.

Valley 59, Sunrise Mountain 24 — At Valley, Tyricia Payne recorded 24 points, eight rebounds and seven steals as the Vikings routed the Miners.

Gabby Cabanero had 13 points for Valley, which got nine rebounds from Zhani Thomas.

Kimdre’Ana Jeffries paced Sunrise Mountain with seven points.

Calvary Chapel 51, Lake Mead 20 — At Calvary Chapel, Alexis Harris had 15 points and 12 rebounds to help the Lions rout the Eagles.

Leanne Reyes added 13 points for the Lions, who led only16-7 at the half.

Taylor Badua-Kono paced Lake Mead with 12 points.

Needles 50, Mountain View 36 — At Needles, Calif., Holly Laswell and Abby Chandler each scored 12 points as the Mustangs defeated the Saints.

Lisa Hills added 10 points for Needles.

Briana Marruffo scored 18 points to lead Mountain View.

Lincoln County 61, Agassi Prep 28 — At Panaca, Jaycee Wadsworth scored 15 of her 23 points in the first half, helping the Lynx to a 28-14 halftime lead and a win over the Stars.

Tia Florence added 14 points for Lincoln County.

Noelle Chavis paced Agassi Prep with 17 points.

The Meadows 46, Oasis Christian 13 — At The Meadows, Vanessa Maloof scored 12 points, and teammates Anjali Daulat and Bailey Gosse each added 10 points  as the Mustangs cruised to victory over the Bulldogs.

Alexis Phiphis scored seven points to pace Oasis Christian. 

Sandy Valley 30, Adelson School 15 — At Sandy Valley, Kenzi Smith had 12 points, and the Sidewinders outscored the Lions, 22-5 in the middle two quarters on the way to the win.

Christianna Fraley and Emily Stanley each added eight points for Sandy Valley.

Ale’ Gibson led Adelson School with six points.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
