ROUNDUP: Gunther helps Basic girls cruise to win in opener

Kelsey Gunther scored 14 points Tuesday to lead Basic’s girls basketball team to a season-opening 60-23 win over visiting Eldorado.

Shanice Valentine tallied 12 points and eight rebounds, and Dana Deloney supplied 10 points and eight boards for Basic, which led 39-11 at the half.

Denishean Jackson led the Sundevils with 13 points.

Desert Oasis 71, Las Vegas 55 — At Desert Oasis, Tatiana Kearn had 19 points, and Auburn Smith added 17 points as the Diamondbacks rolled past the Wildcats.

Bri Osorio supplied 11 points for Desert Oasis.

Shomari Harris led Las Vegas with 19 points, and Matti Ventling scored 17.

Virgin Valley 51, Chaparral 40 — At Chaparral, Abbie Barnard scored 16 points to propel the Bulldogs past the Cowboys.

Kourtney Metzger added 10 points for Virgin Valley, which led 29-16 at halftime.

Octavia Gray had 12 points and Tichina Savoy 10 points for Chaparral.

Boulder City 70, Sunrise Mountain 33 — At Boulder City, Karlee Koopman scored 17 points, and Kaitlyn Daly added 16 points as the Eagles rolled past the Miners.

Alyssa Ybarra scored 12 points for Boulder City, which led 36-12 at halftime.

Da’Nisha Wedlow paced the Miners with 11 points.

The Meadows 44, Sandy Valley 16 — At The Meadows, Casey Barber had 11 points and six rebounds to help the Mustangs cruise past the Sidewinders.

Vanessa Malouf added 10 points, and Melaney Mayes grabbed 14 rebounds for The Meadows.
Samantha Malkus led Sandy Valley with five points.
