ROUNDUP: Childress helps Gorman girls collect win in Chicago

Tonishia Childress had 17 points and 12 assists Saturday to help Bishop Gorman’s girls basketball team to a 76-26 in over Al Raby Academy (Ill.) in the Chi-Town Showdown in Chicago.

April Rivers had 20 points for the Gaels, who led 47-20 at the half.

Sandria Bolden added 13 points, and Raychel Stanley grabbed 10 rebounds for Gorman.

Rolling Meadows (Ill.) 79, Bishop Gorman 51 — At Chicago, Rolling Meadows bolted to a 38-19 halftime lead and downed the Gaels in the Chi-Town Showdown.

Bolden had 15 points, and Stanley scored 14 for Gorman, which got 10 points from Megan Jacobs.

Spanish Springs 60, Faith Lutheran 54 — At Reno, Lyndsey Anderson poured in 23 points, and the Cougars raced to a 22-8 first-quarter lead before holding on to beat the Crusaders in the High Sierra Invitational.

Taylor Hammer had 11 points, and Alexandria Wright scored 10 for Faith Lutheran.

Avalon (Calif.) 53, Mountain View 32 — At Anaheim, Calif., Laura Amezqua and Joanna Chavoya each had 15 points to help Avalon top the Saints in the Husky Invitational.

Kiley Murphy led Mountain View with 13 points.

Savanna (Calif.) 44, Mountain View 20 — At Anaheim, Calif., Marlene Montero tallied 14 points, and the Rebels opened up 20-8 first-quarter lead on their way to a win over the Saints in the Husky Invitational.

Alley Cintron paced Mountain View with nine points.
