Roundup: Centennial wins battle of nationally ranked teams

Eboni Walker had 18 points and 19 rebounds Saturday to lead Centennial’s girls basketball team to a 61-49 win over Windward (California) in a battle of nationally ranked teams in the Matt Denning Nike Hoops Classic in Santa Ana, California.

Melanie Isbell added 17 points, and Daejah Phillips scored 10 for the Bulldogs, who trailed 17-15 after one quarter before outscoring the Wildcats 33-20 in the middle quarters.

Centennial is ranked No. 18 nationally by USA Today.

UCLA signee Charisma Osborne led the Wildcats with 22 points, and teammate McKayla Williams scored 13 points for Windward, ranked No. 8 by USA Today.

Village School (Texas) 81, Coronado 44 — At Houston, Kennedy Donovan made six 3-pointers in the first quarter and finished with 30 points to lead the Vikings over the Cougars.

Jada Malone added 26 points for Village School, which led 33-12 after one quarter and 51-18 at the half.

Gabbie Etopio paced Coronado with 15 points.

Christian (Calif.) 72, Faith Lutheran 29 — At Chula Vista, California, Simone James scored 18 of her 22 points in the first half as the Patriots ran away from the Crusaders.

Allie Carreon added 15 points, and Kristin Williams scored 12 for Christian, which led 56-13 at the half.

Quianna Brown led Faith Lutheran with nine points.
