ROUNDUP: Canyon Springs tops Cheyenne in girls basketball

Skotasia Thomas scored 18 points for the Canyon Springs girls basketball team, which bolted to a 21-4 first-quarter lead on its way to a 60-40 home win over Cheyenne on Friday night.

Sabriya Brooks, Kenosha Wright and Diamond Broadus each scored 10 points for Canyon Springs.

LaVetta Glaze led Cheyenne with 13 points.

Arbor View 43, Chaparral 36 — At Chaparral, Jaleesa Williams scored 10 points for the Aggies, who grabbed a 28-12 halftime lead and collected the first road win in the program’s history.

Arbor View, which entered the season with its only win coming by way of forfeit, defeated Clark at home on Dec. 4 for its first on-court victory.

Desiree Pierce led Chaparral with 14 points.

Desert Oasis 53, Boulder City 46 — At Desert Oasis, Alexus Caulk had 20 points and eight rebounds for the Diamondbacks, who outscored the Eagles 21-9 in the fourth quarter to pull away and gain the first girls varsity win in school history.

Lenzi Cram and Trini Morgan each scored 10 points for Desert Oasis.

Caiti Forrester scored a game-high 24 points for Boulder City.

Bonanza 51, Coronado 45 — At Coronado, the Bengals overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to beat the Cougars.

Bonanza’s Alice Pitts scored seven of her game-high 16 points in the third quarter as the Bengals outscored the Cougars, 19-7.

Daytril Beals added 10 points for Bonanza.

Coronado’s Stacy Rapp scored 13 points, and teammate Lindsay Decker added 11.

Liberty 69, Palo Verde 32 — At Liberty, the Patriots led the Panthers 43-15 at halftime on their way to victory.

Liberty’s Phoebe Baker led all scorers with 19 points. Jade Washington added 12 points, 10 assists and six steals and Amanda Delgado 14 points for the Patriots.

Jasmin Kiley led the Panthers with 12 points, and teammate Shameka Smith added 10.

Cimarron-Memorial 54, Del Sol 31 — At Cimarron-Memorial, Catherine Wyre scored 29 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Spartans in their win against the Dragons.

Zerie Mae Baptista added 12 points for Cimarron.

Amy Austin led the Dragons with 13 points.

Foothill 60, Mojave 44 — At Mojave, Alysse Thummel scored a game-high 17 points for the Falcons in their win over the Rattlers.

Mercedes Starr scored 13 points and Brianna Higgins 11 for Foothill.

Centennial 83, Galena 49 — At the High Sierra Winter Classic in Reno, Deanna Daniels scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds as the Bulldogs coasted to victory over Reno.

Alexis Byrd added 20 points and Johnna Brown 18 for Centennial.

Emily Burns had 20 points and Hayley Jensen 14 for Galena.

Canberra Girls (Australia) 37, Mountain View 35 — At Fairmont Prep (Calif.), Carlene Cassella scored 12 points, including two late 3-pointers, to lead Canberra over Mountain View.

Ellie Markwardt had 28 points and eight rebounds for the Saints.

In the Pahrump Valley Cage Classic:
Pahrump Valley 74, Bishop (Calif.) 8 — The Trojans led 27-0 after the first quarter and cruised to victory.

Alyson Kunzi had 18 points to lead Pahrump. Kristi Daffer scored 13, Taylor Ball 11 and Alexis Abou-Halaka 10 for the Trojans.

Pahrump Valley 70, Beatty 30 — Kunzi had 20 of her 26 points in the first quarter to lead the Trojans over the Hornets.

Ashley Lindgren added 10 points for Pahrump, which led 26-6 after one quarter.

Faith Lutheran 35, Beatty 32 — Ashley Green had nine points as the Crusaders edged the Hornets.

Faith Lutheran 64, Bishop (Calif.) 6 — Kelsey McCourt and Joi Goynes each scored 14 points for the Crusaders, who built a 34-4 halftime lead.

Green added 13 points for Faith Lutheran, which outscored Bishop 21-0 in the fourth quarter.

In the Lund/White Pine Warm-Up in Ely:
West Wendover 51, Battle Mountain 39 — Danika Sharp scored 27 points to help the Wolverines, who took a 24-11 halftime lead.

Estela Botello added 17 points for West Wendover.

West Wendover 59, White Pine 45 — Sharp pumped in 44 points to lead the Wolverines.
