ROUNDUP: Bulldogs begin defense of championship with Canyon Springs rout

Alexis Byrd led five double-figure scorers with 28 points Tuesday as defending Class 4A state champion Centennial tipped off its season with a 102-39 win at Canyon Springs.

Courtney Hayes had 21 points, and Ashley Klemz added 17 for Centennial, which led 58-26 at halftime. Shannon Brown scored 12 and Latangie Richard poured in 11 for the Bulldogs.

Diamond Broadus led Canyon Springs with 11 points.

Arbor View 32, Virgin Valley 30 — At Arbor View, Erika Lang had 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Jena Valenzuela supplied eight points and 12 rebounds as the Aggies nipped the Bulldogs.

Ashley Yancey added eight points for Arbor View.

Madison Bowler scored a game-high 15 points for Virgin Valley.

Basic 49, Chaparral 25 — At Chaparral, Noemi Hernandez and Marquichea Burns each scored 13 points as the Wolves routed the Cowboys.

Kailia Brantner scored nine points for Basic, which led 22-9 at the half.

Janae Neuville had 13 points for Chaparral.

Foothill 67, Eldorado 20 — At Eldorado, Cheryl Harless scored 24 points to lead the Falcons to an easy win over the Sundevils.

Bri Higgins added 14 points and Alyse Thummel had 10 for Foothill.

Casey Bradshaw led Eldorado with seven points.

Legacy 58, Valley 34 — At Legacy, Latia Matthews had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Longhorns to a win over the Vikings.

Aubriana Hayes and Breanah Manley each added 10 points for Legacy.

Markysha McCullah had 11 points and Christina Davis added 10 for Valley.

Coronado 45, Las Vegas 42 — At Las Vegas High, Nicole Ruffino hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left to give Coronado a 43-42 lead, and the Cougars held on to beat the Wildcats.

Jessica Smith and Ruffino led a balanced attack with 10 points apiece for Coronado.

Shomari Harris led Las Vegas with 17 points.

Rancho 39, Del Sol 25 — At Rancho, Aisha Momodu and Maijah Williams each scored 10 points to help the Rams down the Dragons.

Amy Austin led Del Sol with 13 points.

Mojave 53, Western 43 — At Western, Jazzmine Robinson scored 22 points as the Rattlers defeated Western.

Ivionne Reece added 14 points for Mojave.

Dareshoun Lee led Western with 17 points, and Aleya Ford-Wheaten had seven rebounds.

Desert Oasis 52, Sunrise Mountain 29 — At Sunrise Mountain, Auburn Smith scored 17 points to lead the Diamondbacks past the Miners.

Desert Oasis blitzed to a 13-2 first-quarter lead and never looked back.

Snow Canyon (Utah) 63, Silverado 57 — At Silverado, Shea Collins scored 30 points for the Skyhawks, but the host team came up short against Snow Canyon.

Natalie Lainhart added 14 points for the Skyhawks, who played without injured starters Alena Evans and Kaitlyn Keathley.

Boulder City 67, Mountain View 27 — At Boulder City, Jessi Forrester scored 18 of her 28 points in the middle two quarters to lead the Eagles past the Saints.

Karlee Koopman added 15 points for the Eagles, who led 34-9 at the half.

Patrice Marshall paced the Saints with 11 points. Zari Riley added nine rebounds for Mountain View.

Trinity 43, The Meadows 5 — At Mirabelli Gym, Brittany Kersenbrock had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Thunder in a rout of the Mustangs.

Danielle Noll added 13 points and Rene Calero had 10 for Trinity, which led 26-0 at the half.

Henderson International 43, Laughlin 28 — At Laughlin, Brittany Huff scored 21 points to lead the Wolverines past the Cougars.

Kerry Chang had eight points and 11 rebounds for Henderson International, which held Laughlin to single-digit scoring in all but the fourth quarter.

Elisa Daniels led Laughlin with 13 points.

Beatty 56, Adelson School 25 — At Beatty, Kaci Schroeder scored 13 points and four more players contributed six or more points apiece as the Hornets downed Adelson.

Every player on the Beatty roster scored.

Svelanka Blackwell led the Lions with 18 points.
