ROUNDUP: Bishop Gorman edges La Jolla (Calif.) Country Day in girls basketball

Aaryn Ellenberg’s jumper in the final 20 seconds broke a 49-49 tie, and Bishop Gorman’s girls basketball team held on for a 51-49 win over visiting La Jolla (Calif.) Country Day on Saturday.

Ellenberg finished with 20 points for the Gaels, who survived two late shot attempts by Country Day.

Chelsie Pitt added 14 points for Gorman.

Sierra Vista 66, Desert Oasis 43 — At Desert Oasis, Nicolette Grigsby had 11 points to help the Mountain Lions down the Diamondbacks.

Madinah Hennix added 10 points for Sierra Vista, which led 19-9 after one quarter and outscored Desert Oasis 23-5 in the third.

Alexus Caulk led the Diamondbacks with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Auburn Smith added 13 points for Desert Oasis.

Virgin Valley 35, Pahranagat Valley 30 — At Mesquite, Stacy Avalos and Shelby Brotherson hit back-to-back 3-pointer to ignite a fourth-quarter comeback by the Bulldogs.

Avalos had a team-high eight points for Virgin Valley, which outscored the Panthers 17-6 in the fourth quarter.

Halie Lewis led Pahranagat Valley with 14 points.

Mountain View 57, West Wendover 50 — At Mountain View, Ellie Markwardt was 23-for-29 from the free-throw line and finished with 30 points to lead the Saints.

Brianna Marruffo added eight points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals for Mountain View, which shot 49 free throws.

Danika Sharp led the Wolverines with 25 points. Estella Botello added 14 points for West Wendover.

Lincoln County 61, White Pine 57 — At Panaca, Maicah LeBaron hit two free throws in the final 10 seconds to seal the win for the Lynx.

Marissa Smerek led Lincoln County with 19 points. Kori Gloeckner added 15 points and Melanie Florence 10 for the Lynx.

Lincoln County’s Mary Culverwell contributed five points and six steals, and LeBaron had seven points and seven assists.

Heather Hamilton paced the Bobcats with 16 points.

Needles 70, Calvary Chapel 40 — At Needles, Alex Chandler had 26 points and Miranda Brackett 25 to lead the Mustangs over the Lions.

Anna Duerden had 18 points and Sammie Mann 15 for Calvary Chapel.
