Review-Journal girls basketball rankings — Jan. 31

Class 4A

1. Centennial (22-3, Last week 1) — The Bulldogs have not lost to a Nevada team in more than three years.

2. Spring Valley (23-2, LW 2) — The Grizzlies solidified their spot at No. 2 with a win over Liberty on Monday.

3. Liberty (23-2, LW 3) — The Patriots’ only losses this year have been to Spring Valley.

4. Desert Oasis (18-3, LW 4) — The Diamondbacks have two losses to Nevada teams: Liberty and Spring Valley.

5. Cimarron-Memorial (18-6, LW 5) — The Spartans have clinched a postseason berth for the third year in a row.

6. Coronado (15-8, LW 7) — The Cougars are 5-1 in league play, improving on a 10-7 nonleague record.

7. Bishop Gorman (8-15, LW 6) — In order to have a winning season, the Gaels would need to win the state championship.

8. Rancho (16-9, LW 8) — Kyndal Ricks is emerging as a candidate for an all-state team.

9. Foothill (13-8, LW unranked) — The Falcons enter the rankings with a home game against Silverado on deck for Wednesday night.

10. Canyon Springs (11-6, LW 10) — The Pioneers can still win the Northeast League with a strong stretch run.

Class 3A

1. Moapa Valley (21-3, LW 1) — The Pirates have clinched a home playoff game in the 3A Southern Region playoffs.

2. Cheyenne (9-8, LW 3) — After losses to Desert Pines and Western, the Desert Shields have won four league games in a row.

3. Virgin Valley (11-11, LW 2) — The Bulldogs have clinched a spot in the playoffs, extending their streak to 11 years.

4. Mojave (9-6, LW 4) — Four teams entered Wednesday with a 4-2 record in the Sunset League.

5. Pahrump Valley (14-5, LW 5) — The Trojans have Mojave and Desert Pines in league games this week.

Class 2A

1. Lincoln County (18-3, LW 1) — The Lynx head to Needles on Friday for a big 2A showdown.

2. Democracy Prep (13-4, LW 2) — The Blue Knights have three more games before their game with Lincoln County to end the year.

3. Needles (18-8, LW 3) — The Mustangs get Lincoln County on Friday, trying to hand the Lynx their first league loss.

4. Laughlin (7-9, LW 5) — After a 10-year playoff drought, the Cougars are honing in on back-to-back playoff berths for the first time in school history.

5. Calvary Chapel (9-9, LW 4) — The Lions need some help to get to the playoffs, and still have games remaining with Needles and Laughlin.

Class 1A

1. Pahranagat Valley (14-3, LW 1) — The Panthers have three more league games before visiting White Pine to end the year.

2. Round Mountain (13-4, LW 2) — The Knights’ next game is their season finale is at Beaver Dam on Feb. 9.

3. Word of Life (13-5, LW 3) — The Eagles play GV Christian in a nonleague game Thursday.

4. Tonopah (4-11, LW 4) — The Muckers are 2-2 in league play.

5. Indian Springs (6-5, LW 5) — The Thunderbirds are one of four 1A teams with a winning record.

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
