GIRLS BASKETBALL: Scroggins, Vikings rout Chargers

Sandra Scroggins scored 19 points, and Valley's girls basketball team began the game on a 23-4 run on their way to a 62-32 home victory over Clark on Saturday.

Almond Slayton added 10 points for the Vikings.

Shaylyn Thacker led the Chargers with eight points.

Faith Lutheran 40, Heritage (Colo.) 28 — At Reno, Bryanna Neagle had 19 points to lift the Crusaders by the Eagles in the High Sierra Winter Challenge.

Sam Caruth added 11 points for Faith Lutheran.

Haily Cechini led Heritage with 10 points.

Green Valley 66, Spanish Springs 41 — At Reno, Gwen Garcia scored 16 points, and the Gators began the game on a 24-4 run to down the Cougars in the High Sierra Winter Challenge.

Ellee Barton added 12 points for Green Valley.

Anhelica Shanrock had 11 points for Spanish Springs.

North Valleys 55, Las Vegas 40 — At Las Vegas, Sami Dinan scored 16 points to help the Panthers top the Wildcats.

North Valleys led 30-13 at the half, but had its lead cut to eight before sealing the win by making 10 free throws in the fourth quarter.

Adrina Collins had 15 points, and Bianca Matlock scored 10 for Las Vegas.

Beaver Dam 36, Indian Springs 22 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Jailene Hernandez scored 17 points to lead the Diamondbacks by the Thunderbirds in the semifinals of the Snake Pit Classic.

Sevanna Morgando led Indian Springs with 10 points.

Beatty 34, Indian Springs 16 — At Littlefield, Ariz., Alexia Gil had 17 points to help the Hornets top the Thunderbirds in the third-place game of the Snake Pit Classic.

Beatty started the game on a 16-1 run and never looked back.

Morgando led Indian Springs with 10 points.
