GIRLS BASKETBALL: Rahkonen, Longhorns top Diamondbacks

Carolina Rahkonen had 30 points and six rebounds Wednesday to lead Legacy’s girls basketball team to a 67-41 home win over Desert Oasis.

Aviana Clark added 13 points, four steals and four assists for the Longhorns.

Mikala Kirby led the Diamondbacks with 23 points.

Centennial 71, Cimarron-Memorial 22 — At Centennial, Tramina Jordan scored 16 of her 24 points in the first half as the Bulldogs built a 55-12 halftime lead and routed the Spartans.

Paige Barber added 12 points, and Karina Brandon scored 10 for Centennial.

Shataya Harper led Cimarron with six points.

Bishop Gorman 65, Bonanza 25 — At Gorman, Maddison Washington had 19 points, and the Gaels outscored the Bengals 37-5 in the middle two quarters to pull away for the win.

Raychel Stanley had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Gorman.

Tanganika Hunt had 15 points for Bonanza.

Sunrise Mountain 45, Chaparral 33 — At Chaparral, Brittany Veal scored 11 points, and the Miners used an 11-3 run in the second quarter and a 16-9 burst in the fourth quarter to top the Cowboys.

Tyrah Lee added eight points for Sunrise Mountain.

Abigail Delgado and Marcia Hawkins each had 10 points for Chaparral.

Faith Lutheran 66, Cheyenne 35 — At Faith Lutheran, Dani Tharaldson and Haley Vinson each had 17 points to help the Crusaders rout the Desert Shields.

Kim Munro added 10 points for Faith Lutheran, which raced to a 35-15 halftime lead.

Bria Buchanan scored 20 points for Cheyenne.

Western 61, Mojave 29 — At Western, Guadalupe Herrera scored 16 points as the Warriors cruised past the Rattlers.

Destiny Gonzalez had 14 points, and Capricia Pierce scored 11 for the Warriors.

Rayena Rael had 13 points for Mojave.

Clark 43, Pahrump Valley 24 — At Clark, Karlicia Stroughter scored 20 points as the Chargers rolled past the Trojans.

Bobbi Floyd had 12 points and 13 rebounds, and Ci’Quadya Belser had nine points and 11 assists for Clark.

Alyssa Murphy had 11 points, and Shayla Dance added seven points and seven rebounds for Pahrump.

Virgin Valley 60, Tech 26 — At Mesquite, Abbie Barnard scored 22 points as the Bulldogs topped the Roadrunners.

Bernice Fiso added 12 points, and Becca Bramlage scored nine for Virgin Valley.

Clarissa Szluha had seven points to lead Tech.

Desert Pines 38, Moapa Valley 25 — At Overton, Chrystian Myles had 19 points to lead the Jaguars by the Pirates.

See’Airrah Collins added 10 points for Desert Pines.

Makayla Jackson had 12 points for Moapa Valley.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
