GIRLS BASKETBALL: Hunt, Bengals cruise to victory over Sierra Vista

Tanganika Hunt scored 20 points Wednesday to help Bonanza’s girls basketball team to a 70-35 home win over Sierra Vista.

Brooklyn Savage added 13 points, and Chardonnay Martin-Roberson supplied 11 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals for Bonanza.

Sianna Nelson pulled down 15 rebounds for the Bengals, who led 25-16 at halftime.

Kayla Smith scored nine points for the Mountain Lions.

Rancho 45, Mojave 9 — At Mojave, Tatianna Lee scored 16 points as the Rams jumped out to a 22-4 halftime lead and went on to rout the Rattlers.

Darje Martin and LaKissa Martin each supplied 11 points for Rancho, which held Mojave to one point in the third quarter.

Desert Oasis 75, Chaparral 31 — At Chaparral, Mikala Kirby poured in 18 points, and teammate Aalaysia Lindsey added 14 points to guide the Diamondbacks to an easy win over the Cowboys.

Ashlynn Sharp supplied 12 points, and KePatriot Simpson and Thessa Fernando each tallied 10 points for Desert Oasis.

Rosa Richardson led Chaparral with nine points.

Sandy Valley 47, Word of Life 12 — At Sandy Valley, the Sidewinders rolled past the Eagles.

4A/3A girls state roundup: Legacy, Canyon Springs ousted

Legacy and Canyon Springs couldn’t keep up in the Class 4A girls basketball state semifinals. The Southern Region representatives in 3A also were eliminated.
