GIRLS BASKETBALL: Fast start boosts Basic

Jayla Brown and Dana Deloney each finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds Thursday as Basic’s girls basketball team raced to an early lead and downed visiting North Valleys, 52-38.

The Wolves outscored North Valleys 17-3 in the first quarter to take control.

Elaine Johnson had 13 points for the Panthers, and teammate Brittany Brownson scored 12.

Clovis West (Calif.) 64, Liberty 50 — At Bishop Gorman, Emily Anderson had 18 points as the Golden Eagles flew past the Patriots in the Las Vegas Invitational.

Portia Neale had 16 points for Clovis West, which forced 27 turnovers in the first half and built a 40-27 lead.

Jazmin O’Bannon led Liberty with 12 points, and teammate Kealy Brown scored 11.

Clark 71, Virgin Valley 52 — At Clark, Bobbi Floyd racked up 28 points and 19 rebounds to propel the Chargers to victory over the Bulldogs.

Ci’Quadya Belser supplied 15 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds for Clark, which got 10 points from Karlicia Stroughter.

Abbie Barnard poured in 26 points to lead Virgin Valley.

Faith Lutheran 58, Sunrise Mountain 46 — At Sunrise Mountain, Alex Wright led all scorers with 14 points to push the Crusaders past the Miners.

Bobbi Tharaldson and Dani Tharaldson each scored 13 points, and Morgan Hill added 11 points for Faith Lutheran.

Ayla Diaz led Sunrise Mountain with 13 points.

Centennial 68, Green Valley 24 — At Green Valley, Karina Brandon had 19 points to help the Bulldogs rout the Gators.

Ivana Ganeva had 11 points, and Teirra Hicks scored 10 for Centennial, which got nine points apiece from Ioana Ganeva and Paige Barber.

Maggie Manwarren had 11 points to lead Green Valley.

Western 50, Sierra Vista 27 — At Western, Destiny Gonzalez scored 14 points to help the Warriors down the Mountain Lions.

Capricia Pierce added 12 points for Western. Her nine points in the first quarter led a 19-3 run for the Warriors.

Ashley Davidson had nine points to lead Sierra Vista.

Pahranagat Valley 50, Wells 22 — At Virginia City, Kimberly Lewis had 13 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Panthers over the Leopards in the Comstock Classic.

Bailee Hosier added 11 points, and Jamie Hansen had six points, eight rebounds and six steals for Pahranagat Valley.

Rachel Johnny led Wells with six points and 10 rebounds.
