GIRLS BASKETBALL: Chavez, Trailblazers hand Arbor View its first Northwest League loss

Jazmin Chavez hit two free throws with four seconds left Friday as Durango’s girls basketball team stunned visiting Arbor View, 40-39.

Chavez had 19 points, 12 rebounds and four steals for the Trailblazers, who trailed 30-29 entering the fourth quarter. Brittany Romo added nine points and four assists for Durango.

Ariona Gill scored 12 points to lead Arbor View, which had its 18-game Northwest League winning streak snapped and lost a league game for the first time since Feb. 8, 2012.

Clark 33, Cheyenne 22 — At Cheyenne, Bobbi Floyd scored 15 points to help the Chargers beat the Desert Shields.

Karlicia Stroughter added seven points for Clark.

Amanee Buckins and Bria Buchanan had six points apiece for Cheyenne.

Western 46, Pahrump Valley 23 — At Western, Destiny Gonzalez and Guadalupe Herrera each had 18 points, and the Warriors used a 30-2 run in the middle quarters to down the Trojans.

Alyssa Murphy had eight points for Pahrump.

Boulder City 57, Chaparral 32 — At Chaparral, Whitney Barlow had 13 points as the Eagles secured at least a share of the Division I-A Sunrise League title by downing the Cowboys.

Abigail Delgado had 15 points, and Marcia Hawkins scored 11 for Chaparral.

Legacy 63, Cimarron-Memorial 38 — At Cimarron, Carolina Rahkonen scored 21 points to help the Longhorns roll past the Spartans.

Markeshia Evans added 16 points for Legacy, and teammate Justice Akins finished with 14 points.

Shauntel Efferson led Cimarron with 12 points.

Bishop Gorman 73, Desert Oasis 27 — At Desert Oasis, Maddison Washington scored 21 points as the Gaels stormed past the Diamondbacks.

Raychel Stanley had 14 points, and Sandria Bolden added 10 points for the Gaels.

Mikala Kirby had eight points for the Diamondbacks.

Centennial 69, Bonanza 20 — At Centennial, Tramina Jordan scored 18 points as the Bulldogs routed the Bengals.

Paige Barber had 13 points, and Teirra Hicks added 12 points for Centennial.

Tanganika Hunt and Sianna Nelson had seven points apiece for Bonanza.

Virgin Valley 61, Desert Pines 31 —At Mesquite, Abbie Barnard scored 17 points to help the Bulldogs roll past the Jaguars.

Kourtney Metzger added 14 points for Virgin Valley, which led 27-9 at halftime. Teammate Spencer Green scored 13 points.

Chrystian Myles led Desert Pines with 13 points.

Laughlin 44, Mountain View 40 — At Mountain View, Cassie Beggs had 24 points to lead the Cougars by the Saints.

Rose Adkins had 18 points, and Caitlyn Martin scored 10 for Mountain View.

Needles 52, Calvary Chapel 47 — At Needles, Calif., the Mustangs held off the Lions.

Phallen Nelson and Lianne Reyes each had 22 points for Calvary Chapel.
